At Féline we offer high quality fabrics for interior- and product design, with a minimum environmental impact.
Therefore, all our products are produced with respect to nature.
Along all steps of the production process, we seek to be as sustainable as possible and minimize the footprint of our collections.
Sustainability protocol
All our felt is produced under a sustainability protocol. For the production of our felt, no water is used during the felting process. The dry production process has a great positive impact on, not only the water use, but more importantly, the reduction of energy use.
Normally, wool felt production requires a large volume of water in the felting process. After the felting process, all felt needs to be dried. To dry the felt, a lot of heating power is needed. Creating very high energy use.
All our felt is produced without the use of water and drying machines during the felting process. This dry felting process is a big improvement in the sustainability of the production.
Furthermore, all our felt is produced under a strict chemical management. All production processes of the felt, including the dyers, operate under a list of restricted substances. This way the use of chemicals in all steps of the production process can be controlled.
The wool used for our Fresco collection complies with the voluntary responsible wool standard. This standard strives for optimal animal welfare, land management and traceability. Aiming for optimal circumstances for the animals and the land.
The wool used for our wool felt collections, originates from New Zealand and Great Britain.
Mulesing free
All wool used in our wool felt collections, is certified mulesing free wool. Mulesing is a dangerous and painful procedure for the sheep, to prevent fly strike. This practice is prohibited for any wool used in our collections. All our wool felt is produced without the use of water or drying machines during the felting process.
Our Minimal art collection is made from recycled PET bottles. The fibers used for the production of the PET felt are Global Recycled Standard fibers. This standard guarantees that only recycled products have been used and preserves the quality of the used fibers. By reusing the plastic bottles, we can avoid the use of new resources. For every kilogram of felt, 30 post-consumer bottles have been recycled.
These plastic bottles are separated from other plastic and are subdivided into transparent and colored PET bottles. These bottles are then used to create recycled polyester fibers. These recycled fibers can be used for the production of our Minimal art collection. This collection is made from recycled plastic bottles and can be recycled again.
All our felt can be processed into a felt wall covering. Any type of felt material and thickness can be laminated with a non-woven backing, for fast and easy application on for example walls, ceilings and panels. During the lamination of our felt collections, we only use water-based and biodegradable glue.
The acoustic wall textile is available in wool felt and recycled PET felt. The wool and pet felt wall textile is available in various thicknesses, from 2mm to 8mm thickness. Ask our team about the possibilities and interesting options for your project.
For the application of our felt wall covering you can use our Féline Eco Glue Forte. This is a water-based and biodegradable glue. This glue gives a strong hold, and is therefore also suited to process the thicker and heavier felts.
Treatments
For all additional treatments on our felt, we also keep our production processes as green as possible.
For the application of any backing to our felt, we only use water-based and biodegradable glue. We do not use any chemical glues to produce our felt wall covering, or other fabric laminations.
Additional fire-resistant treatments are done, using non-chemical double-sided spraying treatments.
Sustainable application
For all projects and applications, we seek to work together with our customers and partners to implement a sustainable way of working, along all steps of the process.
Working with felt, and especially thick and heavy felt, we see that chemical glues are often used during the application and processing of felt. In order to avoid the use of chemical glues, we offer a specific glue for the processing of our felt and felt wall covering.
To allow our customers to process Féline fabrics in a sustainable way, we offer our Féline Eco Glue Forte. This is a water-based and biodegradable glue. The glue gives a strong hold, and is therefore especially suited for the processing of our felt.
